Would someone like to suggest a good client for OS X? Something simple for a mac using idiot like myself, with big shiny buttons and a brushed metal interface. =) Actually, something simple in pinstripes would be fine, too.

Re: Chat Client for OS X?
Wed, July 30, 2003 - 6:38 AMI use ircle, rather complicated for me
besides that I'm rusty using irc and could use some brushing up.

Re: Chat Client for OS X?
Wed, July 30, 2003 - 10:41 AMYou can also build any unix irc client on your macosx. I've never really used any of the unix GUI clients but a lot of people swear by Xchat. Nothing beats the ircii based clients like BitchX/Epic/ircii in a screen session.

How many people keep one irc client open for over 100 days? -

Re: Chat Client for OS X?
Sun, October 12, 2003 - 4:06 PMMy favorite client is X-Chat because of its nice GUI interface and perl scripting support. I've tried console based IRC clients, but none of them ever really felt right to me, guess I just need my GUI.

Re: $message.subject
Fri, August 1, 2003 - 11:21 AMI've been using AthenaIRC, and the same author just came out with a beta of his new client, Minerva. It's very beta, though. -

Thu, September 11, 2003 - 6:40 PMThere are a ton... Snak is good and for beginners a new one called Conversation is very Apple like in it's simplicity!

Re: Chat Client for OS X?
Mon, October 13, 2003 - 12:07 AMI use XChat-Aqua, since I'm familiar with XChat from Linux. Snak is a bit more OSX-like, it seems.
(By the way, I'm not fond of the brushed-metal interface... I prefer the old bright pinstripe look.)

Sat, November 29, 2003 - 12:18 PMwww.hiddenMemory.co.uk/Crikey/ -- not free, but highly recommended by a guy in my channel. his workplace depends heavily on irc, and he finds Crikey very useful.
Me, I still use www.zenirc.org/

Re: Chat Client for OS X?
Wed, January 14, 2004 - 10:09 AMI'd recommend checking out iRC. I found it too simple for my needs, but I know people who like it a lot.
Personally, I use XChat Aqua.

Wed, June 9, 2004 - 10:10 AMI'm answering an 11 month old post merely for the benefit of any newcomers who might stumble across it and benefit thereby... :-)
My choice is Conversation, from
www.conversation.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/
Big shiny buttons, brushed metal interface, works as simply as iChat, and the author is really friendly and open to feedback. And it's free. Check it out, OS X peeps... -
